DRC ASL Interpreter in Blanding UT

The Disability Resource Center is seeking experienced Sign Language Interpreters to interpret on the USU Blanding Campus in Blanding, UT.

This is a temporary position for the Fall 2026 (Aug 31 - Dec 18) and Spring 2026 (Jan 11 - May
4) semesters. Monday - Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., not including university holidays.

• Provide ASL interpretation for USU sponsored classes and events.
• Prepare for classes by reviewing course material or other relevant information.

Minimum Qualifications

• State or National Interpreter Certification

Preferred Qualifications

• 1 - 3 years ASL interpreter experience.
• ASL interpreting experience in a higher educational setting.

• Ability to interact with students, faculty and others in a professional way.
• Understanding of, and commitment to, relevant ethical codes.
• Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team.

The environment and physical requirements may change depending on the specific location of the class instruction. Incumbents may be in both indoor and outdoor environments. Indoors, in an classroom space, event space, or public space are protected from weather conditions, but not necessarily from temperature changes. Incumbents will be regularly required to sit or stand and use repetitive hand motions.

Outdoors, incumbents may not be protected from weather conditions and may be exposed to extreme heat and extreme cold. Additionally, indoor or outdoor work environments may include being confined or in narrow spaces for periods of time. The incumbent may also be exposed to loud noises or vibrations from equipment, and conditions that may affect the respiratory system, such as fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases, and poor ventilation.
