Instrumentation & Electrical (I&E) Technician
This I&E Technician will support day‑to‑day maintenance, troubleshooting, and reliability of all electrical and control systems at the ORC plants and brine gathering system. The role performs installation, calibration, maintenance, and repair of plant instrumentation, controls, and electrical distribution to ensure optimal performance and regulatory compliance. It is a hands‑on, field‑based role requiring technical proficiency, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and operational excellence.
The position reports to the Maintenance Supervisor.
Job Type: Full‑time
This position follows a Monday‑Friday (5/2) schedule but requires availability for emergency call‑outs after hours, on weekends, or holidays.
Responsibilities- Install, maintain, and calibrate instrumentation (pressure transmitters, flow meters, level sensors, temperature sensors, vibration monitors, analytical devices); troubleshoot and repair control loops, signal issues, and PLC‑based systems to ensure accuracy and responsiveness; support commissioning and startup of new instrumentation and process control systems.
- Perform inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs on medium and low voltage electrical systems, switch gear, MCCs, VFDs, motor controls, transformers, and grounding systems; troubleshoot electrical faults, conduct motor testing, and ensure compliance with NEC, NFPA 70E, and site‑specific standards; assist with electrical isolation, lockout/tagout, and energization procedures.
- Respond to equipment failures, alarms, or system upsets in collaboration with operations and engineering teams; support routine and unplanned outages, plant turnarounds, and project execution; maintain detailed maintenance records, logs, and work order documentation using CMMS software.
- Adhere to plant safety procedures, electrical safe‑work practices, PPE, and hazard mitigation protocols; contribute to root‑cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives; participate in safety meetings, toolbox talks, and audits.
- Education: High school diploma or GED required; technical certification or associate degree in electrical, instrumentation, or industrial technology preferred.
- Experience: Minimum 5–7 years in an industrial, power generation, or process plant environment; experience with SCADA, PLC, or DCS systems and control logic troubleshooting preferred; experience working with 480 V and below electrical systems required; familiarity with medium‑voltage (up to 13.8 kV) a plus.

Skills:
Proficient interpreting P&IDs, electrical schematics, loop diagrams, and control system documentation; skilled with test equipment (multimeters, meggers, loop calibrators, communication testers); familiar with CMMS platforms (e.g., eMaint, Maximo, SAP). - Schedule & Availability: Must work Monday‑Friday (5/2) at Cape Station; available for after‑hours and weekend emergency call‑outs to support plant reliability and safety; able to work outdoors in variable weather, climb ladders, lift up to 50 lb, and work in confined spaces or at heights as needed.

Certifications:
OSHA 30, NFPA 70E, First Aid/CPR, or ISA/EPRI technician certifications; arc‑flash training and electrical safety credentials are a plus.
This position is based at Cape Station, Fervo Energy’s geothermal power generation facility in southwestern Utah. The remote industrial site operates 24/7 to deliver firm, zero‑carbon energy to the grid. The I&E Technician will work a standard Monday‑Friday (5/2) schedule with availability for emergency call‑outs after hours, on weekends, and holidays.
