Design Engineer
- Ensure that the QMS confirms to ISO 9001:2015
- Ensure processes are delivering intended outcomes
- Report to Top Management on the performance of the QMS; on opportunities for improvement; on change requirements; on innovations
- Ensure the promotion of customer focus
- Ensure the integrity of the QMS is maintained
- Responsible for the design, development, and documentation of low to medium voltage switch gear and power distribution systems
- Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, customer requirements, and MCM quality standards.
- Design and develop electrical switch gear systems including – general requirements, elevation and plan views, one-line diagrams, schematics, and control circuits.
- Select and specify electrical components such as breakers, relays, CTs, PTs, bus bars, and protective devices.
- Create and revise engineering drawings using CAD software (AutoCAD, E-Plan).
- Ensure designs comply with relevant standards (e.g., IEC, ANSI, UL, IEEE).
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams including mechanical designers, project managers, and manufacturing teams.
- Review and interpret customer specifications and provide technical input during submittal, production, and post‑shipment phases.
- Maintain project documentation and provide timely updates to project stakeholders.
- Self-directed, able to work autonomously or with limited direct supervision, receives general instructions on new assignments.
- Typical work week - 40 hrs.
- This is an on‑site position unless approval is given by management based on a major life change.
- Willingness to work 10% overtime as needed.
- Travel is not required for this position.
The successful Design Engineer must:
- Demonstrate accuracy, thoroughness, and impeccable attention to detail and organizational skills while successfully managing many concurrent projects.

The well‑qualified Design Engineer will have:
- A Bachelor of Science degree, preferably in Electrical Engineering, or an Electrical Emphasis of a more General Engineering degree.
- A technical degree or certificate with a minimum of three years’ relevant experience.
- 3+ years of experience in switch gear or power distribution equipment design.
- Experience with AutoCAD, E-Plan, and Microsoft software.
- Familiarity with low and medium voltage systems (up to 38 kV).
- Strong understanding of electrical protection and control systems.
- Knowledge of relevant electrical standards (IEC, IEEE, UL, NEMA, etc.).
- Hands‑on experience in manufacturing or field service of switch gear.
