Northrop Grumman’s Space Sector is seeking an Energetics Manufacturing Engineer/Principal Energetics Manufacturing Engineer – Level 2 or Level 3 to join our team in Promontory, UT. This position is 100% onsite and cannot accommodate telecommute work.

The Energetics MFG Engineer (Quality Engineer) will be responsible for designing inspection processes, for highly energetic, static sensitive, corrosive, and chemical processes and designing arrangement of inspection equipment within the facility to ensure the most safe and efficient layout. Will also implement qualification and change management processes to ensure products or services meet customer requirements.

In This Job, You Will
  • Engineer must understand all safety risks of the process and design the processes such that safety risks are mitigated or eliminated. All processes must meet the minimum standard as outlined in (HOPs) Hazards Operation Standard. Understands and complies with DOD
    4145.26 ATF.
  • Develops energetic inspection processes such that safety interlocks, standardization requirements for mixes, and remote processes are incorporated into the process for operator and process safety.
  • Designs sequence of operations and quality control that specify procedures for the fabrication of tools and equipment and other functions that affect product performance.
  • Supports cross function matrixed investigation teams with emphasis on root cause analysis, process failure modes, non-conformances and effective analysis.
  • Understand the design intent, failure modes, requirements and specifications of the product as well as the manufacturing processes, process controls, statistics, SPC, and quality inspections.
  • Provide expertise and guidance in interpreting governmental regulations, agency guidelines and internal policies/procedures to assure compliance and will serve as liaison between Promontory S&MA and various other organizations including some government agencies.
  • Work directly with operating entities to ensure that inspections, statistical process control analyses, and audits are conducted on a continuing basis as specified to enforce requirements, meet specifications, and improve processing
  • Achieve and maintain Material Review Board (MRB) membership for relevant programs
  • Other duties as assigned

This position is contingent upon the candidate obtaining final clearances and program access(es) within a reasonable period of time as determined by the company.

This position can be filled at either a Level 2 or Level 3.

Basic Qualifications For Level 2
  • Approved Classical STEM Bachelor’s degree with 2 years of professional/related experience – OR – Approved Classical STEM Master’s degree with 0 years of professional/related experience.
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret security clearance
Basic Qualifications For Level 3
  • Approved Classical STEM Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of professional/related experience – OR – Approved Classical STEM Master’s degree with 3 years of professional/related experience – OR – Approved Classical STEM PhD with 1 year of professional/related experience.
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret security clearance
