Mechanical Engineer
We are seeking a mechanical engineer to support the design, operation, and maintenance of mechanical systems and facilities within a uranium and rare earth element milling and processing facility. This role involves ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant operation of equipment used in grinding, leaching, solid-liquid separation, and drying processes associated with uranium and rare earth element production.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design, evaluate, and optimize mechanical systems and equipment used in milling, leaching, and processing uranium ore.
- Develop and maintain preventive maintenance plans for critical equipment such as crushers, mills, pumps, conveyors, and dryers.
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues, perform root cause analysis, and recommend corrective actions.
- Ensure equipment and process compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations, especially regarding radiation safety and hazardous materials handling.
- Collaborate with process engineers, operations teams, and maintenance personnel to improve plant efficiency and reliability.
- Prepare technical reports, maintenance documentation, and safety procedures.
- Support capital projects, including equipment upgrades and new installations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline.
- 3–5 years of experience in industrial mechanical engineering; experience in mining, milling, or chemical processing is preferred.
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems used in mineral processing, including pumps, piping systems, heat exchangers, pressure vessels, and rotating equipment.
- Familiarity with radiation safety protocols and regulatory compliance in uranium processing is a plus.
- Proficiency with CAD software and engineering analysis tools.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience in uranium or other radioactive material processing facilities.
- Working knowledge of international and local environmental and safety regulations related to uranium processing.
Work environment:
- Industrial processing plant environment with exposure to radiation, chemicals, noise, and heavy machinery.
- Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and participate in site-specific safety training.
