Design Engineer

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure that the QMS confirms to ISO 9001:2015
• Ensure processes are delivering intended outcomes
• Report to Top Management on the performance of the QMS, on opportunities for improvement, on change requirements, and on innovations
• Ensure the promotion of customer focus
• Ensure the integrity of the QMS is maintained
• Responsible for the design, development, and documentation of low to medium voltage switch gear and power distribution systems
• Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, customer requirements, and MCM quality standards
• Design and develop electrical switch gear systems including general requirements, elevation and plan views, one-line diagrams, schematics, and control circuits
• Select and specify electrical components such as breakers, relays, CTs, PTs, bus bars, and protective devices
• Create and revise engineering drawings using CAD software (AutoCAD, E-Plan)
• Ensure designs comply with relevant standards (e.g., IEC, ANSI, UL, IEEE)
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams including mechanical designers, project managers, and manufacturing teams
• Review and interpret customer specifications and provide technical input during submittal, production, and post‑shipment phases
• Maintain project documentation and provide timely updates to project stakeholders

• Self‑directed; able to work autonomously or with limited direct supervision, receives general instructions on new assignments
• Typical work week – 40 hours
• This is an on‑site position unless approval is given by management based on a major life change
• Willingness to work 10% overtime as needed
• Travel is not required for this position

• A Bachelor of Science degree, preferably in Electrical Engineering, or an Electrical Emphasis of a more General Engineering degree
• A technical degree or certificate with a minimum of three years’ relevant experience
• 3+ years of experience in switch gear or power distribution equipment design
• Experience with AutoCAD, E-Plan, and Microsoft software
• Familiarity with low and medium voltage systems (up to 38kV)
• Strong understanding of electrical protection and control systems
• Knowledge of relevant electrical standards (IEC, IEEE, UL, NEMA, etc.)
• Hands‑on experience in manufacturing or field service of switch gear
