MCM ENG2 UTAH (655 East 4930 North, Enoch, UT 84721) (Remote; minimum one office visit required)
The responsibilities of the Technical Engineer (OEM Solutions) include, but are not limited to:
- Provide engineering support for LV/MV power distribution and protection equipment, including circuit breakers, protection relays, magnetic contractors, thermal overload relays, transformers, and OEM kits.
- Conduct technical evaluations of switch gear components, transformers (CRT, Pad-Mounted, PT, CT, CPT), and OEM solutions, ensuring compliance with project requirements.
- Assist in preparing cost estimates for LV/MV electrical components, including circuit breakers, relays, transformers, Switchgear, UL891 Bus Straps, Interiors, and UL67 OEM Kits.
- Analyze customer RFQs, bid documents, and specifications to prepare optimized technical and commercial proposals.
- Support the development and integration of OEM kits, ensuring compatibility with UL-listed MV/LV switch gear, switchboards, panel boards, and transformer applications.
- Ensure all components and system designs comply with ANSI, IEEE, IEC, NEMA, UL891, UL67, NEC, and transformer‑specific standards.
- Assist in type testing, factory acceptance testing (FAT), and field testing for circuit breakers, protection relays, transformers, and OEM kits.
- Work with suppliers and vendors to verify technical specifications and ensure high‑quality material selection for OEM and power distribution components.
- Provide technical assistance to customers and internal teams, troubleshooting system integration issues and offering optimized solutions.
- Develop technical manuals, training materials, and documentation for internal teams and customers to enhance product knowledge and usage.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 10+ years of experience in OEM Kit / Device (VCB, ACB, MCCB, etc.).
- Strong understanding of switch gear components, protection devices, transformers, and compliance standards such as ANSI, IEEE, IEC, NEMA, UL891, UL67, and NEC.
- Occasional travel (up to 20%) for technical support, factory visits, and customer meetings.
- Preferred:
Experience with competitors such as Eaton, ABB, and Schneider Electric.
- Strong knowledge of LV/MV protection devices (circuit breakers, relays, contractors, overload relays), transformers (CRT, Pad‑Mounted, PT, CT, CPT), and OEM solutions.
- Ability to review and validate electrical protection systems, transformers, and OEM kit designs, ensuring compliance and functionality.
- Experience with electrical simulation and design tools such as AutoCAD, or similar software.
- Effective communication skills for collaborating with internal teams, suppliers, and customers.
- Ability to improve estimation, testing, and integration processes for enhanced product performance.
