As a Research Scientist - Level 2 or Level 3 located in Promontory, UT, you'll be a linchpin in missions of paramount importance, defining the art of the possible from day one.

This Research Scientist/Engineer position is responsible for providing technical analysis and consultation on a variety of chemical and engineering challenges, including process planning for energetic materials, experimental design, data and statistical analysis, and the preparation of regular status updates and technical reports. The candidate must be able to communicate complex concepts effectively, both verbally and in writing, to internal and external customers.

The role will require collaboration with a multidisciplinary team of scientists, engineers, and technicians working on energetic material projects. This position will work a 9/80 schedule, with every other Friday off. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Plan and develop energetic-material processes and experiments.
• Perform data and statistical analyses.
• Handling of energetic materials and other hazardous materials.

3. Basic Qualifications for Level 2:
• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or related discipline with 2 years of professional experience - OR - Master's degree with 0 years of professional experience.
• Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance
• Ability to pass a background check for the Federal Safe Explosives Act (SEA)
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent time-management and organizational skills.
• Proven ability to interpret and report on test data.
• Detail-oriented yet able to see the bigger picture and prioritize effectively. Basic Qualifications for Level 3:
• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineer or related discipline with 5 years of professional experience - OR
- Master's degree with 3 years of professional experience - OR
- PhD with 1 year of professional experience.
• Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance
• Ability to pass a background check for the Federal Safe Explosives Act (SEA)
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent time-management and organizational skills.
• Experienced in reviewing, interpreting, and drawing conclusions from test results.
• Detail-oriented yet able to see the bigger picture and prioritize effectively.
• Proven team player who can work effectively in a multidisciplinary environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Knowledge and/or experience with energetic-material formulation.
• Knowledge and/or experience with pyrotechnic gas generants.
• Experience handling hazardous materials.
