Overview

ICBM Physical Security Systems Engineer. The opportunity involves applying technical and systems thinking to support nuclear weapon system safety. Analyze and evaluate Air Force nuclear weapon system designs to support nuclear safety and certification. Design robust physical security systems to protect high-value facilities and assets, applying engineering principles to identify and assess weapon system security and inform design certification. Contribute to an interdisciplinary team of government and contractor staff while evaluating the overall nuclear safety of the clientor mission success.

Develop contract deliverables and technical analyses, analyze design data, and present results to verify compliance with government requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Analyze and evaluate Air Force nuclear weapon system designs to support nuclear safety and certification.
  • Design physical security controls for high-security facilities and assets.
  • Develop contract deliverables, including Technical Nuclear Safety Analyses (TNSA) and Independent Nuclear Safety Evaluations (INSE), and technical research papers.
  • Analyze design data, prepare written deliverables, and present results and reviews of weapon system safety artifacts to verify compliance with applicable government requirements.
  • Follow established plans and quality standards with opportunities to improve processes and advance nuclear weapon safety practices.
Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience designing physical security controls for high-security facilities
  • 2+ years of experience evaluating, validating, or verifying system requirements
  • Experience analyzing engineering data, including specifications, models, and drawings
  • Experience using Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and SysML
  • Ability to communicate advanced engineering concepts clearly to non-technical audiences
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Secret clearance
Nice to Have
  • Experience performing system safety analyses (hazard analysis, fault tree analysis, probabilistic risk assessment, failure modes and effects analysis, criticality analysis)
  • Experience with requirements traceability
  • Knowledge of DoD acquisition environment and DoD/DAF/DAFI guidance
  • Knowledge of DoD or Air Force ICBM or nuclear weapon security policies
  • Top Secret clearance or Master’s degree
Clearance

Security requirements include Secret clearance; the role may require additional clearances as needed.
