Global Stone and Tile is a specialty commercial subcontractor that has been installing interior and exterior stone for nearly 20 years. While the company is locally owned and operated, we have completed hospitality projects throughout the world for prestige brands including Four Seasons, Montage, Ritz, JW Marriott, etc. as well as US courthouses, and over 75 LDS temples. Our pipeline has proven recession resistant, and we are growing in and outside of the United States.

Job Summary

We are seeking a high-performing Controller to lead the day-to-day accounting operations of a growing commercial construction subcontractor. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who takes ownership of their work product, thrives in a dynamic deadline‑driven environment, and can balance accuracy with speed. This role will be responsible for the integrity of the Company’s financial records, timely month‑end closes, job‑cost accounting, and the development of processes and controls that support operational teams in the field.

The Controller will work closely with the Director of Finance and CFO as well as project leadership to ensure that financial information is reliable, job performance is clearly understood, and decisions are made with accurate, timely data. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong leadership qualities, support the company vision and goals, proactively improve systems, and operate as a team player focused on doing the right thing – not just doing things right.

Compensation
  • Base: $135-155k
  • Annual Performance Bonus: 5-20% of base depending on company performance, individual performance, and overall value creation.
  • Benefits: 10-15 days PTO, Health insurance, Life Insurance, Laptop. 401(k) does not currently exist, but is expected in 2026 and the candidate will be able to participate and be fully eligible for matching.
Job Responsibilities
  • Oversee the day-to-day accounting operations of the Company, including AP, AR, payroll, and general ledger functions.
  • Manage and execute an accurate, timely month-end and year-end close process.
  • Maintain the general ledger and chart of accounts in accordance with GAAP and company policies.
  • Prepare, review, and/or supervise preparation of journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and adjustments.
  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of vendor invoices, subcontractor payments, and customer billings, including progress billings and retention.
  • Oversee cash management activities, including daily cash monitoring, banking relationships, and short-term cash flow forecasting.
  • Maintain and improve job cost accounting systems, including proper coding of costs, job cost reporting, and variance analysis.
  • Support project managers and operations teams with clear, regular reporting on job performance, costs, margins, and potential risks or opportunities.
  • Prepare and review Work-in-Process (WIP) schedules, percentage-of-completion revenue recognition, and related analyses.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and internal management reports.
  • Support the annual financial review and tax preparation process with external CPAs and auditors.
  • Implement, maintain, and enhance internal controls, policies, and procedures to safeguard company assets and ensure reporting integrity.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, including sales/use tax, payroll tax, 1099s, and other required filings.
  • Oversee payroll processing and related reconciliations in coordination with HR and outside providers.
  • Coordinate with operations, estimating, and project management to align accounting practices with field activities and project workflows.
  • Assist in budgeting and forecasting processes by providing historical analysis, cost trends, and variance explanations.
  • Support the CFO and Director of Finance in developing dashboards, KPIs, and standardized financial reporting packages.
  • Participate in daily, weekly, and monthly leadership huddles to communicate financial status, risks, and recommendations.
