Head of Management Accounting

Imperial is seeking an exceptional Head of Management Accounting to join our senior finance leadership team. This is a high‑impact role for an operational finance leader who thrives on driving excellence, process improvement and leading high‑performing teams.

As a trusted advisor and senior finance professional, you will lead and shape the University’s management accounting function. You will oversee a talented team structured across three key reporting pillars:
Research & Enterprise, Property and Central Professional Services covering approximately £320m in annual net expenditure and £185m in capital programmes.

You will play a critical role in fostering a culture of continuous improvement, professional development, and outstanding service delivery.

• Oversee management accounting for all non academic Support Services department
• Harmonise the month end processes and reporting across the three pillars
• Oversee the financial accounting and year end reporting for key university subsidiaries
• Lead the external audit process for the non Academic Departments and key University subsidiaries, ensuring high quality submissions and strong audit outcomes.
• Lead Imperial’s Transparent Approach to Costing (TRAC) end to end reporting.
• Oversee accounting for Imperial’s capital projects, ensuring accurate reporting, strong controls and alignment with strategic investment priorities.
• Champion and act as a key finance representative on Imperial’s Great Service Programme, ensuring Oracle Fusion is optimally configured to support both management accounting and performance reporting.
• Maximise the benefits of Oracle Fusion to ensure streamlined and harmonised month end management accounting processes and month end reporting for the Support Services.
• Provide technical accounting expertise to the team on issues identified within their areas.
• Promote best practice in management accounting, encouraging innovation, consistency and data driven insights.

• A Qualified Accountant
• Experience in harmonising processes and procedures across complex and diverse teams
• Proven record of communicating financial results to senior management
• Strong in-depth knowledge of FRS
  102 accounting standards.
• The ability to quickly adapt communication according to the target audience
• Ability to influence senior leadership and senior stakeholders
• Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.

This is a full-time/ (35 hours per week) in Imperial’s Management Accounting Team.
