Manages and directs the Forest's Safety and Occupational Health Program, ensuring safe and healthful operations for employees, contractors, volunteers, and the public.
Develops annual safety action plans and budgets to address hazard reduction, accident trends, and program improvement needs.
Interprets and applies OSHA, USDA, NFPA, and agency safety regulations; recommends and develops supplemental local policy as needed.
Evaluates high-risk and complex field operations and provides expert guidance on risk management, PPE, and safe work practices.
Conducts inspections and accident investigations, identifies causal factors, and recommends corrective and preventive actions.
Develops and delivers safety training and manages safety data systems, analyzing trends and advising leadership on needed program changes.
