Lead Massage Therapist

The Lead Massage Therapist provides high-quality massage therapy and supports daily spa operations s position primarily performs treatments and serves as the designated operational lead when the Spa Supervisor is not on-site, ensuring consistent service standards, smooth daily operations, and an exceptional member and guest experience.
Job Duties:
- Performs massage therapy and other approved treatments as an active member of the Licensed Massage Therapist (LMT) team.
- Provides full-day on-site operational coverage during the Spa Supervisor's regular days off and serves as the designated spa lead during those shifts.
- When the Spa Supervisor is on-site, primarily performs treatments with a flexible or on-call schedule based on bookings and spa demand.
- Manages daily spa operations during Supervisor coverage, including bookings, member and guest needs, treatment flow, staff coordination, and spa readiness.
- Opens and closes the spa when scheduled and ensures established opening and closing procedures are completed.
- Manages the spa booking system and communicates directly with members and guests regarding reservations, treatment preferences, special requests, and service needs.
- Directs day-to-day work of massage therapists and estheticians during coverage shifts, adjusts assignments and coverage as needed, and provides immediate coaching and feedback.
- Reinforces established treatment protocols, service standards, sanitation practices, and WPR policies and assists with staff training when requested by the Spa Supervisor.
- Ensures the spa remains clean, organized, appropriately stocked, and treatment-ready throughout the operating day.
- Monitors treatment supplies and linens during coverage shifts and addresses immediate shortages; routine inventory management and ordering remain with the Spa Supervisor.
- Addresses normal member and guest service concerns and escalates significant personnel, financial, or service issues to the Spa Supervisor or Director. Comps, refunds, discounts, or other financial adjustments require approval.
- Assists with member and guest arrival, departure, booking, and payment needs as required to support spa operations.
- Maintains confidentiality of member and guest information and ensures required treatment documentation is completed appropriately.
- Willingly supports other spa operational needs as required to maintain a smooth member and guest experience.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Licenses and Special Requirements:
- Current Utah Massage Therapist license required.
- Current CPR/AED certification required; certification may be provided by WPR if needed.
- Pass an annual comprehensive background check.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Ability to perform massage therapy and approved spa treatments for extended periods of time.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and move throughout the workday.
- Ability to lift and carry linens, supplies, and equipment weighing up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to perform repetitive hand, arm, and upper-body movements associated with massage therapy.
- Ability to perform the job safely and effectively in a treatment and spa environment.
- Remain calm, professional, and engaged while responding to changing operational and member needs.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma, GED equivalent or higher required.
- Current Utah Massage Therapist license required.
- Minimum of three years of professional massage therapy experience.
- Previous luxury spa, resort, private club, or high-end hospitality experience preferred.
- Previous lead or supervisory experience preferred.
