DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Career Counseling & Student Support:
Provide one-on-one career counseling to students (e.g., resumes and cover letter review, interview preparation), on-site at CUNY Hillels and virtually. Design, plan and facilitate career development workshops and events covering employment and professional topics. Build and maintain relationships with CUNY Hillel staff and other partners to guide program planning and oversee student engagement. Stay updated on best practices and trends in career development across industries.

Career

Ambassador and Student Internship program

Assist with coordinating career ambassador program, including recruitment, training, event planning, and supervision of college interns in planning and coordinating career-related events and recruiting peers for career programming. May supervise a social media intern to support their work and career growth. Oversee summer internship program(s) including promotion, recruitment, selection, tracking student placements and progress, events, and providing ongoing support to students.

Establish and maintain relationships with employers to secure internship opportunities, collaborating with team members to manage placements.

Supervision & Program Management

Supervise one full-time career counselor. Support strategic planning, workflow management, and implementation of program priorities. Contribute to the design and evaluation of program strategies and services.

Social Media & Communications

Assist with social media coordination and content; develop promotional materials and implement strategies to market and promote the program.

Data & Reporting

Maintain accurate data, tracking systems, and evaluation tools to support grant reporting. Assist with data analysis and contribute to reports for funders. Administrative duties include entering and updating student data and meeting information; collecting, tracking and organizing student information/documents; drafting routine correspondence.

JFEW Scholarship Program

Provide career and personal mentorship to a small caseload of JFEW Scholarship recipients.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s Degree required;
Master’s Degree preferred, in social work, counseling, human resources, or a related field. 2/3yrs+ professional experience in career development work or workforce development, preferably with college students. Demonstrated experience providing career counseling, including resume and cover letter review, interview preparation, and career planning. Experience designing and facilitating workshops, professional development programs, internship programs, or related initiatives. Strong knowledge of career development best practices, job market trends and research, job search strategies, and career technology tools.

Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to build relationships with students, employers, and partners. Strong organizational, project management, and strategic planning skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines. Experience with program design, implementation, and evaluation preferred. Supervisory experience preferred, including experience coaching staff or interns. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with exceptional attention to detail.

Experience creating content and managing social media platforms/online marketing tools, including platforms such as Instagram and Linked In. Proficiency using technology including Microsoft Office and Google Drive for data tracking, reporting, and communication, and efficient use of the Internet. Ability to work independently and collaboratively across multiple teams and campuses Familiarity with Jewish culture and/or experience working with Jewish organizations (or willingness to learn).

Must be willing to travel to multiple CUNY college Hillels (locations may include Baruch, Hunter, Queens College, Brooklyn College, College of Staten Island). Candidates must be comfortable commuting between boroughs. Must be available to attend and facilitate occasional evening events or workshops.
