Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN)

Position Title

Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN)

Reports To

OR Nurse Manager/Director of Surgical Services

Position Summary

FULL TIME and PRN positions available. All positions have on call time weekly/monthly requirements.

The Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN) at Blue Mountain Hospital is a vital member of our surgical team, responsible for providing high-quality patient care before, during, and after surgical procedures.

Responsibilities
  • Patient Care:
    Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care needs before, during, and after surgery. Provide direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures, and protocols of the healthcare organization.
  • Preparation:
    Prepare and maintain the operating room for surgery, including the setup of sterile instruments and supplies, ensuring that all necessary equipment is available and functioning properly.
  • Collaboration:

    Work closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, surgical technologists, and other members of the surgical team to ensure seamless care during surgical procedures.
  • Monitoring:
    Monitor patients' vital signs, levels of consciousness, and overall well-being during surgery. Respond promptly to any changes in patient condition.
  • Documentation:
    Accurately document all aspects of patient care, including pre-operative assessments, intraoperative care, and post-operative recovery, in accordance with hospital policy.
  • Sterilization:
    Maintain strict adherence to aseptic techniques and infection control protocols to prevent contamination and ensure patient safety.
  • Education:

    Educate patients and their families about the surgical process, post-operative care, and any other necessary information related to the patient’s care.
  • Compliance:
    Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, standards, and hospital policies, including those related to patient safety, quality care, and confidentiality.
Qualifications
  • Licensure

    Required:

    Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Utah.
  • Experience

    Required:

    1-2 years of Operating Room Experience PRE-OP, PACU, Intraop
  • BSN preferred
  • Surgical scrub experience preferred
  • Certifications:

    BLS, ACLS, NRP, certification required.
  • Skills:

    Strong critical thinking, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to work effectively in a high-pressure environment and make quick, sound decisions.
  • Physical Requirements:

    Ability to stand for very long extended periods, lift heavy objects, and perform physically demanding tasks. Must be able to respond quickly to emergencies.

This shall include giving all appropriate respect and deference to licensed medical providers and behavioral health providers (hereafter jointly referred to as “Providers”). Providers include, but may not be limited to physician assistants, nurse practitioners (or similar), and Physician Assistants.
  • Keep all BMH business and patient information strictly confidential and to adhere to all other BMH confidentiality policies and procedures, as well as all laws affecting confidentiality.
