Position: Licensed Practical Nurse - Post Surgical - Full Time Nights
Location: Fairview

Position Summary

To support, implement, and monitor nursing care in a timely and accurate manner.

Position Requirements
  • Formal Education / Training: Licensed by the State of Tennessee;
    Graduate of an approved school of nursing; BLS within 90 days of hire.
  • Workplace

    Experience:

    Patient Care Delivery.
  • Equipment and Skills Training: Ability to work well under pressure, function dependently and independently, flexibly applying basic nursing knowledge to a variety of settings. Equipment:
    Order Entry Computer System;
    Telemetry; AT&T Language Line;
    Omnicell Medication System.
  • Physical Environment: Medical/surgical unit with patient population ranging from less than one year of age to ninety-nine years of age.
  • Physical Effort: Requires ability to communicate in English orally and in writing; prolonged standing up to twelve hours a day; push/pull objects up to 175 lbs.; lift and turn patients with assistance up to 250 lbs.
Performance Standards
  • Revise patient’s care plan individually, identifying problems/needs, nursing diagnosis, standards of care/practice, interventions consistent with identified problems and attainable outcomes.
  • Assist with patient teaching, discharge and post‑discharge needs as appropriate for patient population.
  • Function independently with treatments, procedures and equipment appropriate to areas evidenced by adherence to policy, procedure and competency based assessment and no pattern or trend of problem.
  • Handle, transport, store, prepare, administer, solutions safely per hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Monitor and report patient’s condition, evaluate patient response to treatment and modify plan of care appropriately and timely.
  • Document accurately and timely.
  • Maintain healing and therapeutic environment for patient and family.
  • Maintain position specific qualifications.
  • Facilitate staff development.
  • Demonstrate responsibility for assigned communications.
  • Maintain work area and personal appearance reflecting professionalism and cleanliness, orderliness and safety.
