This position is a non-exempt, full-time, benefitted position.

Anticipated schedule:
Days, Possibility of nights

Starting pay range: $32.92 – $46.88/hour, DOE.

A sign-on bonus is available for permanent, full-time hire.

Position Overview:

The Emergency Department (ED) Registered Nurse (RN) provides high quality, compassionate, and efficient care to patients presenting with a wide range of emergent and urgent conditions. The ED RN is responsible for triage, assessment, stabilization, treatment, and evaluation of patients in accordance with hospital policies, evidence based practice, and regulatory standards. The RN collaborates with the ED Provider to ensure optimal patient outcomes in a fast paced environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform rapid assessment and triage of patients presenting to the Emergency Department.
  • Initiate and manage appropriate nursing interventions, including IV access, medication administration, cardiac monitoring, and wound care.
  • Recognize life-threatening situations promptly and respond effectively according to established protocols.
  • Administer medications safely and in accordance with hospital policy and the ‘Five Rights’ of medication administration.
  • Collaborate with ED Providers to plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
  • Assist with procedures and diagnostic testing.
  • Assist with providing procedural/Conscious sedation monitoring.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, family members, and staff to ensure understanding and continuity of care.
  • Document patient care accurately and promptly in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
  • Participate in trauma activations, care of critically ill or injured patients.
  • Support patient and family education regarding treatment, follow up and discharge instructions.
  • Maintain professional development and competencies required for emergency nursing practice.
  • Uphold hospital policies, infection control standards, and safety procedures.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Education:

    Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; BSN preferred.
  • Licensure:
    Current Registered Nurse license in the State of Utah or compact state.
  • Experience:

    Minimum one year of acute care nursing experience, preferably in Emergency.
Certifications:
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) – required.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – preferred, required within six months of hire.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) – preferred, required within six months of hire.
  • Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) – preferred, required within six months of hire.
  • Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC) – Required within one year of hire.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) – Required within one year of hire.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Strong clinical assessment, triage, and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and make sound judgements in high stress situations.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Commitment to professional growth, evidence based practice, and quality patient care.
  • Proficient in the use of Electronic Medical Record (EMR) documentation and use.
Physical Demands:
  • Requires frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, and assisting patients.
  • May involve exposure to infectious diseases and hazardous materials.
  • May involve emergent situations and high stress.
  • Must be able to respond rapidly to changing patient conditions and department needs.
  • 27/7 Emergency Department providing care to a diverse patient population.
  • Shifts may include days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Collaborative team oriented environment emphasizing patient centered care.
