Schedule:
On‑call, may include nights, weekends, and special events. Some shifts in early morning or late evening.
As a Summer Seasonal Recreation Staff member at Iron Blosam at Snowbird, you will work under the direction of Iron Blosam management to provide quality programs to guests and owners, including hiking, yoga, crafts, and other activities.
Responsibilities- Develop, coordinate, and implement craft activities, games, storytelling, and other classes for both adults and children.
- Plan classes and games, shop for supplies, set up, teach, and clean up after classes.
- Collaborate with other recreation attendants to organize classes.
- Coordinate and lead group hikes in a mountain setting.
- Occasionally travel to/from the Salt Lake valley.
- Stay overnight if necessary during road closures and maintain communication with colleagues.
- Must have a knack for arts, crafts, storytelling, and games.
- Excellent interpersonal communication and customer‑service skills.
- First Aid/CPR certified;
Wilderness and Remote First Aid certification is preferred. - High School Diploma or equivalent required;
College degree in a related field preferred. Additional related work experience may be substituted for education. - Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Must be able to hike and possess an active drive licence with a clean motor‑vehicle record.
- Basic competency in reading, writing, speaking, simple arithmetic, and basic accounting/budgeting principles.
- Must possess or be able to obtain a Utah Food Handler’s Permit.
- Experience planning classes for all age groups is preferred.
- Basic knowledge of Snowbird, Utah history, and the flora and fauna of Little Cottonwood Canyon is preferred.
Must be prepared to stay overnight if necessary, and to operate in a mountain setting that includes uneven or loose trails and unpredictable weather. Duties may require lifting up to 50 lbs., carrying trays and other service items, standing for long periods, and performing repetitive motions. The role may involve exposure to noise, high business volumes, deadlines, and interaction with the public.
