The purpose of this role is to provide safety education and exceptional guest service, while encouraging and enforcing safe skiing and riding throughout the resort. This work is primarily done in our Beginner Zones, Slow Zones, and other congested areas around the mountain.
What will you be doing?- Maintain a positive and upbeat presence in designated areas on the mountain.
- Assist guests with general questions and provide information about the resort.
- Set up, maintain, and tear down fencing and signage in Beginner Zones and Slow Zones. This position requires hosts to use tools including but not limited to drills, mallets, and shovels.
- Educate skiers/riders on Your Responsibility Code while monitoring skiing/riding behavior in designated areas and enforcing rules related to fast, reckless and out of control skiing/riding.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills. Hosts must be able to maintain a calm demeanor while interacting with unhappy/angry guests, and are expected to use de-escalation skills to resolve guest concerns and/or complaints.
- Requires intermediate or expert skiing/riding ability and the ability to safely navigate most terrain in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to work well within a dynamic team environment, and a willingness to adapt to changes in responsibilities throughout the season based on departmental and/or resort needs.
- This position requires hosts to be standing on their feet, and/or skiing, for several hours at a time in various weather conditions.
- This job is physically demanding. Hosts will need to be in good physical condition and must be able to lift up to 50lbs, and must be able to carry large and/or heavy items while walking/riding on snow and/or ice. Each team member must have an injury prevention plan in place to prevent injury or overexertion. Any concerns in this area will disqualify applicants for this position.
Schedule and Environment:
- 7:30am – 12:30pm or 11:45am – 4:45pm (longer shifts available)
- Must be available to work weekends and holidays.
- Must be able to work a minimum of 15 hrs/week.
