Director of Quality

Liqua Dry is seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Quality to lead and oversee Quality Assurance, Quality Control, Food Safety, Regulatory Compliance, and Certification Programs for a food and dietary supplement manufacturing organization. This senior leadership role is responsible for developing and maintaining robust quality systems that ensure compliance of all products, services, and operations with FDA regulations, customer requirements, and third-party certification standards while driving continuous improvement across the organization.

The Director serves as a strategic leader and subject matter expert, liaising with management and cross‑functional teams to foster a culture of food safety, risk management, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of Quality Management Systems (QMS), Food Safety Plans, SOP’s, and compliance programs.
  • Ensure compliance with 21 CFR (primarily parts 111 & 117), FDA, USDA-FSIS, UDAF, FSMA and other applicable regulations.
  • Oversee CAPA, deviation management, investigations, complaint handling, and document control systems.
  • Lead Food Safety and Preventive Controls programs (PCQI) including HACCP, SQF, sanitation, allergen control, and supplier qualifications programs.
  • Manage facility and product certifications including SQF, NSF, Organic, Kosher, Halal, Gluten‑Free, NGPV, etc.
  • Host customer audits, FDA inspections, and third‑party certification audits.
  • Oversee quality control activities with third party laboratories, microbiological testing, environmental monitoring, and validations programs.
  • Collaborate cross‑functionally with Engineering, R&D, Operations, Supply Chain, Sales, and Management teams.
  • Direct, mentor, and train cross‑functionally across department to ensure an excellent food safety culture.
  • Implement and oversee third party laboratory operations, microbiological testing, environmental monitoring, sanitation, and validation programs.
  • In coordination with senior management, elevate potential product threats or pause production due to significant quality issues.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives and measure and monitor KPIs to enhance performance.
  • Oversee customer inquiries, complaints, and audits, ensuring product specifications are met.
  • Establish and oversee Supplier Approval Program to verify the safety and quality of raw materials and packaging.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, Biology, or related scientific field.
  • 10+ years of progressive quality and regulatory experience in dietary supplements, food, nutraceuticals, pharmaceuticals, or related manufacturing industries.
  • Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience managing quality and regulatory teams.
  • Certified SQF Practitioner (or equivalent), HACCP Certified, PCQI Certified.
  • Deep working knowledge of FDA dietary supplement and food regulations, cGMP requirements, FSMA, USDA, GFSI benchmarking, and certification programs.
  • Experience directing and supporting audits from the FDA, customers, and third‑party certifiers.
  • Excellent leadership, system thinking, analytical abilities, communications, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Relocation to the greater Delta, Utah area.
