General
Role and Responsibilities:
Submit letter of application stating experience , training , references and other information pertaining to this position to the Director of Buildings and Grounds.
• Responsible for the safe condition of all electric elements in the facilities owned and/or operated by the school district 24/7.
• To help maintain the physical school plant in a condition of electrically operating excellence so that full educational use of it may be made at all times.
• Attend and participate in meetings with architects and engineers to assist with the review of new or repla cement electrical systems
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Other duties may be assigned by immediate supervisor.
• Facilitate the wiring, installation , repair and preventive maintenance of equipment and fi xtures such as interior, exterior , stage , gym , athletic field, and parking lot
lights, emergency and exit lights , pool equipment including underwater l ighting, motors, switches and outlets, fuse boxes, circuit breakers , generators, intercoms and bells, fire alarms, engines, generators , batteries, fans, sound systems ,
scoreboards, security cameras and systems, technology (computers, smartboards, projectors, screens, monitors), door security systems, and all classroom or office clocks.
• Repair electrical components of classroom, office, kitchen, culinary, consumer and family science equipment
• Maintain safety and code requirements with regards to OSHA, State, local, and Board of Education guidelines
• Maintain inventory of district-owned hand tools, equipment, hardware, electrical materials and supplies
• Recommend purchase of supplies, tools, and/or equipment for electrical department and electrical projects
• Facilitate work orders, troubleshooting and analyzing problems, complete work orders in order of priority within time and budget.
• Maintain records and reports, correspondence relative to the work
• Recommend new or retrofit equipment for energy efficiencies and labor productivity to the electrical foreman
• Confer with co-workers for project involvement and completion including technology layout of computer labs and special projects
• Instruct custodians and other maintenance workers on proper use, methods, or procedures with new or existing electrical equipment
• Maintain Safety Data sheets on chemical products used in the department
Qualifications and
Education Requirements:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required.
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
• Member of Electrical Union, Master Electricians License
• Complete and pass a government-approved electrical apprenticeship training program
• Thorough knowledge of electrical theory, standard practices of the trade, thorough knowledge of electrical safety
• OSHA 30 Training
• Strong leadership, problem-solving, troubleshooting skills
• Ability to work well with others with strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Valid driver's license with no points on driving record;

SKILLS:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as Federal, State, and Local safety codes and rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively communicate with other trades and co-workers, write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before small groups of employees in the organization and to communicate effectively with individuals or small groups of administrative, maintenance, custodial, and secretarial staffs.
MATHEMATICAUESTIMATING
SKILLS:
Ability to read and evaluate blueprints and to accurately estimate costs of labor and materials, calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry to required work within the department.
