About the Role
We're seeking an experienced Heavy Diesel Mechanic to lead our Bluff Port Workshop, ensuring safe, efficient, and high‑quality maintenance of heavy machinery and port equipment. This is a hands‑on leadership role, ideal for someone confident on the tools and capable of supervising day‑to‑day workshop operations.
You'll be responsible for both mechanical work and leading a small team, with a strong focus on safety, planning, and operational delivery.

Status:
Full-time, Monday to Friday
Specific Responsibilities:
* Lead day‑to‑day operations of the Bluff workshop
* Diagnose, service, repair, and maintain heavy plant (loaders, excavators, forklifts, trucks, and attachments)
* Supervise and support a small mechanical team
* Plan and prioritise work to meet operational requirements
* Ensure all maintenance meets safety, quality, and compliance standards
* Participate in rostered call‑outs as required
Who we're after:
* NZQA Level 4 Automotive Heavy Engineering qualification (or NZQA‑recognised equivalent)
* Proven experience maintaining and repairing heavy machinery
* Strong leadership, organisation, and planning skills
* A proactive self‑starter with a hands‑on approach
* Strong safety mindset and commitment to Zero Harm
