Every day brings something new as an Equipment Operator in the Special Projects Department. The Equipment Operator safely operates heavy equipment including backhoes, excavators, loaders, graders, and dump trucks while supporting construction, maintenance, and repair projects across the city. You'll perform excavation, grading, trenching, back filling, and material placement, read blueprints and engineering plans, coordinate with engineers and crew members, and help ensure projects are completed accurately and on schedule.
The Equipment Operator is responsible for equipment inspections, basic maintenance, traffic control, utility locating, safe excavation practices, OSHA compliance, and maintaining accurate work records. When needed, the Equipment Operator also assists with manual labor and other duties that help the team successfully complete each project.
Monday through Thursday, 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., with a 30-minute lunch. Enjoy a four-day workweek that provides a three-day weekend while supporting important infrastructure projects throughout Roosevelt City.
What You'll Need to SucceedSuccessful Equipment Operator candidates will have a high school diploma or GED and at least two years of heavy equipment operating experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A valid driver's license is required, along with a Utah Commercial Driver License (CDL) or the ability to obtain one within the required timeframe. OSHA training is preferred. The ideal Equipment Operator possesses strong knowledge of heavy equipment, construction practices, blueprint reading, safe excavation procedures, utility locating, and equipment maintenance.
Candidates should be dependable, safety-focused, physically capable of outdoor work in varying weather conditions, and committed to working as part of a high-performing team.
