Responsibilities

Position Overview

As part of our team, Foreman are responsible for leading and supervising excavation and utility installation crews while ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. This role oversees daily field operations, coordinates personnel and equipment, interprets project plans, and serves as the primary point of contact between field crews, project management, general contractor, subcontractors, and inspectors.

The ideal candidate is a hands‑on leader with strong technical knowledge of excavation, underground utilities, and site development who leads by example and is committed to safety, productivity, and teamwork.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and supervise excavation and utility crews on residential, commercial, and municipal construction projects.
  • Plan, organize, and coordinate daily work activities to meet project schedules and production goals.
  • Read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, grade stakes, and utility plans.
  • Oversee the installation of underground utilities, including water, sewer, storm drain, and dry utilities, ensuring compliance with project specifications and local regulations.
  • Coordinate equipment, materials, subcontractors, and manpower to maximize efficiency.
  • Ensure all excavation activities are performed safely and in compliance with OSHA regulations, company policies, and industry best practices.
  • Conduct daily safety meetings, job hazard analyses, and equipment inspections.
  • Monitor work quality and ensure projects are completed accurately, on schedule, and within budget.
  • Communicate effectively with project managers, superintendents, inspectors, engineers, utility representatives, and clients.
  • Identify and resolve field issues while minimizing delays and maintaining productivity.
  • Train, mentor, and develop crew members to improve skills, performance, and safety awareness.
  • Track daily production, labor hours, equipment usage, and completed work, providing accurate documentation and reports.
  • Ensure proper care, maintenance, and accountability of company equipment and tools.
  • Promote a positive team culture built on professionalism, accountability, and continuous improvement.
