Embedded Software Engineer

We are seeking an Embedded Software Engineer to participate in the complete software development life cycle for embedded software operating on unmanned robotic vehicles. The engineer will be responsible for requirements development, design, implementation, testing, integration, and ongoing support. This role will focus on translating internal and external customer requirements into reliable embedded software solutions related to vehicle control, programmable actuators, and perception sensors.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Develop new features for embedded software applications.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and correct reported software defects.
• Participate in systems engineering activities to ensure smooth software and system integration.
• Support deployed and fielded systems.
• Collaborate with engineering teams throughout the software development life cycle.
• Support requirements development, software design, implementation, testing, and maintenance.
• Develop solutions supporting vehicle control, programmable actuators, and perception sensors.
• Travel may be required approximately 0–15%.

Software Development Practices:

• Write clean, understandable, maintainable, and efficient C and C++ code.
• Apply continuous refactoring practices to improve software quality and maintainability.
• Follow a testing-first mentality, including:
• Unit testing
• Integration testing
• System simulation
• Apply appropriate software design patterns and SOLID principles.
• Design software components with reusability and maintainability in mind.
• Utilize distributed version control systems.
• Follow established embedded software engineering and development best practices.
