Job Summary:
Loads and delivers meals to senior clients in the Green River area. Cleans and maintains the delivery vehicle and containers. Communicates with supervisors and managers of safety concerns on the route or with clients.
Duties / Responsibilities:
- Learn routes and deliver meals in a stop and go fashion. Meals are prepared and loaded.
- Must make visual or audible contact with the senior.
- Clean vehicle and maintain vehicle logs.
- Maintains records of meals delivered and vehicle maintenance.
- Collects donation monies from mobile meal clients and keeps record of donations.
- The delivery driver is also responsible to make sure the heating and cooling system as well as the delivery vehicle is working properly.
- Responsible for minor maintenance of trucks, including but not limited to fueling, oil checks, washer fluid, etc.
- Ability to follow directions and work without direct supervision
- Ability to help seniors solve problems relating to the service.
- Must be scrupulously clean and be able to learn a complex route.
- Ability to recognize problems with delivery vehicles.
- Must genuinely enjoy working with seniors and be sympathetic to the problems of shut-ins.
- You must model professional behavior.
- Set clear expectations against gossip.
- Create open communication channels.
- Address specific instances by redirecting conversations or having private, direct follow-up conversations with the individuals involved to explain the negative impact of their actions.
- Experience in delivery driving preferred
- The position requires a high school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
- Experience working with seniors preferred
- Must obtain food handlers permit within 30 days of employment
- Requires valid Utah driver license.
- Must never have been convicted of an alcohol or drug related moving violation.
- Driver work is performed outside and in any weather condition.
- When talking one must convey detailed or important instructions or ideas accurately, loudly, or quickly.
- Able to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information.
- Average, ordinary visual acuity necessary when operating a vehicle.
- Must be able to lift 40 lbs on a regular basis.
