Part Time Street Sweepter Operator​/Truck Driver

General Purpose

Operate the city's street sweeper and dump trucks and perform general maintenance of the vehicles.

• Works under the direct supervision of the Assistant Public Works Director.

• None – this is not a supervisory position.

• Conduct daily pre‑trip inspections of the street sweeper and dump trucks to ensure safety compliance with DOT standards.
• Safely and efficiently operate the city's street sweeper and dump trucks in accordance with traffic and safety laws.
• Clean the street sweeper and dump trucks daily after operation.
• Perform light duty maintenance such as checking fluids, tire pressure, lubricating moving parts, and changing brooms as needed.
• Assist in ordering parts as needed for repairs and aid in repairs if comfortably qualified.
• Operate two single‑axle and one 10‑wheeler dump truck to haul material to job sites and landfill.

• Must have a valid Class A or B Commercial Driver's license with Air Brakes Endorsement.
• Must have a valid DOT medical card with no restrictions.
• Drug testing will be required for pre‑employment and random DOT drug testing.

Minimum of two years' experience driving heavy equipment.

High school diploma or equivalent.

• General knowledge of heavy equipment daily checklist and ability to perform minor repairs.
• General knowledge of current safety and traffic laws.

• Control precision – Quickly and repeatedly adjust controls of a heavy‑duty truck to the exact position.

• Tasks involve a range of physical activities; infrequent lifting of over 25 pounds.
• Frequent walking, standing, stooping, sitting, reaching, and moderate lifting.
• Essential functions require talking, hearing, and seeing.
• Mental application requires memory for details, emotional stability, and discriminating thinking.
• Required to work outdoors in a warm desert climate.

This position is part time (20 hours weekly) with no benefits. Salary $21.00–$25.00 D.O.E.
