Chemical Engineering Intern
IMEG is hiring a Chemical Engineering Intern in Utica, MI. Over 10-12 weeks, you'll assist in the analysis, design, and implementation oversight of chemical processes while working closely with experienced engineers and consultants. This paid internship offers hands-on project experience and mentorship from day one.
You'll support project budgets, documentation, and multidisciplinary coordination while helping teams meet project goals and client expectations. The team you'd join supports industrial, manufacturing, and MEP work, giving you exposure to real project delivery in technical facility environments.

What You'll Do
· Assist with design portions of chemical process projects according to code and IMEG standards.
· Research commercially available equipment and support the development of equipment and instrument specifications.
· Develop Process Flow Diagrams (PFD's) and Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&'s).
· Perform and document technical and engineering calculations associated with design tasks.
· Perform field work to document existing conditions and current installations.
· Support cost estimate development, including quote solicitation from vendors.
· Assist in process controls design and development and bid package documentation development.
· Review project construction progress and help monitor overall project design progress.
· Document design decisions, meetings, and client instructions promptly for permanent record files.
· Assist with review of project documents for accuracy and completeness prior to requesting a final check.
· Assist with preparation and issuance of addendum information.
· Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including engineers, architects, and project managers, to deliver integrated solutions that meet project goals.
What You'll Bring
Required Education
· Completed at least 2 years towards a Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Chemical Engineering, or equivalent required
Required Skills/Abilities
· Strong interest in design consulting
· Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office programs, CAD software and BIM
· Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
