A great UHY client is seeking a Controller
. The ideal candidate will have true controllership experience, strong financial analysis and problem‑solving skills, and Quick Books Online experience.
The Controller role is a hybrid position. This is a direct hire position.
Responsibilities- Lead all accounting and financial management activities for the organization.
- Oversee the full accounting cycle, including general ledger management, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow forecasting.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.
- Develop forecasts, budgets, and variance analyses to support business decisions.
- Investigate financial variances, identify root causes, and provide actionable recommendations to leadership.
- Partner with executive leadership to support strategic planning and financial performance.
- Monitor and manage cash flow to ensure operational and financial stability.
- Support year-end close activities and coordinate with external accounting and tax partners.
- Oversee general ledger activities, account reconciliations, and financial controls.
- Manage banking relationships, insurance partners, and other external financial stakeholders.
- Review customer credit applications and monitor customer credit exposure.
- Support inventory management activities and oversee annual inventory processes.
- Prepare and process financial transactions, including payroll-related activities and vendor payments.
- Support retirement plan reporting and employee benefit administration activities.
- Develop, maintain, and improve accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Lead process improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and accuracy within the accounting function.
- Manage, mentor, and develop accounting staff while fostering a collaborative team environment.
- Provide financial data, reporting, and KPI analysis to support operational leaders.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 5-7 years of progressive accounting or finance experience.
- 2-3 years of leadership or supervisory experience.
- Proven controllership experience, including general ledger oversight, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
- Strong ability to analyze financial results, investigate variances, and identify root causes of financial and operational issues.
- Demonstrated problem‑solving skills with the ability to make recommendations based on financial data and trends.
- Cost accounting experience.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial controls, and financial statement preparation.
- Experience overseeing month‑end and year‑end close processes.
- Experience managing inventory‑related accounting processes is preferred.
- Experience with Quick Books Online is preferred.
- Experience working with ERP systems and accounting software.
- Working knowledge of Plex is preferred.
- Strong leadership, communication, and team development skills.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
