Michigan Institute of Urology (MIU) is looking for a high-energy, clinical pro to join our Utica team! We need a talented Medical Assistant II (MA II) to step in and help us keep things running smoothly while one of our team members is away.

- The Clinical Welcome: Rooming patients with an upbeat, positive energy that sets the tone for their visit.
- The Basics: Gathering chief complaints, recording histories, and taking accurate vitals.
- Clinical Skills: Mastering injections, blood draws (phlebotomy), and EKGs.
- Urological Procedures: Directly assisting our physicians with in-office exams and specialized urological procedures.
- Precision Charting: Using your EMR skills to keep documentation sharp and accurate.
- The Flow: Keeping the back office moving, handling room turnover, and ensuring every patient feels cared for.
- Education: Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
- Experience: Previous MA experience is required.
- Certification: Medical Assistant Certification or Registration is preferred.
- The Essentials: You are dependable, punctual, and have a "can-do" attitude that stays calm under pressure.
- Tech Savvy: Comfortable with EMR systems and Microsoft Office.

GENERAL SUMMARY
The Medical Assistant II (MA II) supports the delivery of urological services, performs work as required and functions as an effective member of the interdisciplinary team. The Medical Assistant II is tasked to perform routine administrative and clinical tasks to keep the medical offices running smoothly. This position collaborates/work with staff within their practice or other professional disciplines within the affiliated medical groups as needed to achieve effective and efficient patient care delivery and the desired patient outcomes.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION/COMPETENCIES
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- The MA II will perform various administrative and clinical duties under the direction of their assigned direct supervisor.
- The MA II will consistently confer with physicians, nursing, and other staff members to coordinate and schedule appointments of patients.
- Performs additional responsibilities within the office that encompasses at least 50% of their daily time.
- Greets and prepare patients.
- Measures and records vital signs.
- Records patient interview, history, and chief complaint.
- Provides patient education with regards to medications, management of diseases, home treatments and special diets.
- Prepares patients for examinations and performs routing screening tests.
- Assists physicians with exams.
- Preforms phlebotomy and collection of other lab specimens. Performs basic lab tests.
- Performs EKG’s.
- Assists with X-ray and physician therapy procedures.
- Prepares and administers medications with physician authorization.
- Change dressings, applies bandages, removes sutures and other first aid procedures.
- Uses CPR skills when necessary.
- Prepares accurate, legal, and ethical documentation at all times.
