Metals Manufacturer in the Metro Detroit Area is seeking a Welding Maintenance Technician for 1st Shift!
PAY RATE: $32-38/hour (based on experience) SHIFT: 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM
Must be available to work overtime as needed to support production requirements.
Responsibilities- Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on welding equipment, automated systems, and production machinery.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and welding-related equipment issues.
- Maintain welding power sources, wire feed systems, welding tools, fixtures, and associated manufacturing equipment.
- Conduct inspections, testing, and equipment evaluations to verify operational readiness.
- Troubleshoot automated and PLC-controlled systems as needed.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, technical drawings, and equipment manuals.
- Support installation, startup, and commissioning of new manufacturing equipment.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, and equipment documentation.
- Ensure compliance with all safety, quality, and environmental standards.
- Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality teams to improve equipment reliability and process efficiency.
- Recommend equipment upgrades and continuous improvement opportunities.
- Monitor and maintain spare parts inventory.
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting and repair abilities.
- Experience working with welding equipment and automated manufacturing systems.
- Electrical troubleshooting skills including motors, drives, sensors, and controls.
- Understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Ability to use diagnostic equipment, meters, and precision measuring tools.
- Familiarity with robotic equipment and industrial automation.
- Knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance practices.
- Experience utilizing computerized maintenance management systems.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- 3-5 years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience supporting welding equipment, robotic systems, or automated production machinery.
- Experience troubleshooting electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Familiarity with PLCs, industrial controls, and automation equipment.
- Experience using CMMS software for maintenance tracking and reporting.
- Welding certification or hands‑on welding experience is a plus.
