Job Description & How to Apply Below
Position: Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - PRN - Part-Time 1st/2nd Shift

Mohawk Valley Health System (MVHS) is seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team in a dynamic hospital setting. As an LPN at MVHS, you will work collaboratively with Registered Nurses, physicians, and other members of the multidisciplinary care team to provide high-quality, patient-centered care to diverse adult and geriatric populations, as well as select specialty patient groups depending on unit assignment.

In this role, you will perform direct patient care activities within the LPN scope of practice, including obtaining and documenting vital signs, assisting with admissions and discharges, collecting specimens, and providing basic wound care and hygiene support. You will administer medications and treatments as ordered, monitor patients for changes in condition, promptly report significant findings to the RN or provider, and accurately document all care in the electronic health record.

You will support patients and families through education regarding care plans, medications, and discharge instructions, reinforcing teaching provided by RNs and providers.

LPNs at MVHS play an important part in maintaining a safe, clean, and therapeutic environment by following infection prevention protocols, adhering to hospital policies, and ensuring equipment is used and stored safely. You will assist with procedures, coordinate with ancillary services, and help prioritize and organize daily tasks to ensure timely, efficient care. You will also participate in interdisciplinary team discussions, contributing observations and insights to support optimal patient outcomes.

MVHS fosters a supportive culture that emphasizes teamwork, respect, and employee welfare. As an LPN, you will be encouraged to engage in ongoing professional development, including skills training, in-service education, and opportunities to expand your clinical competencies. You will demonstrate strong communication skills, empathy, and professionalism in all interactions with patients, families, and colleagues, while upholding MVHS standards for quality, safety, and patient satisfaction.

This position is well suited for an LPN who thrives in a fast-paced environment, can adapt to changing patient needs and unit priorities, and is committed to improving community health in Upstate New York. Candidates should be comfortable working rotating shifts, including some weekends and holidays, as part of a hospital-based schedule. MVHS offers a comprehensive benefits package and the opportunity to grow within a large, integrated health system dedicated to excellent patient care and employee support.
