Pre‑Admit Testing Specialist (RN)
Full‑time position based in Utica, MI with regular travel to our Troy location.
Schedule:
Monday through Friday, 40–42 hours per week. No weekends, no on‑call.

Act as the critical bridge between patients, surgeons, and the anesthesia team to ensure flawless, safe, and successful surgical outcomes. - Fantastic Perks:

- Handle critical clinical intake, perform initial physical assessments, and complete comprehensive patient interviews to map out medical histories.
- Conduct essential ordered testing, including running EKGs and drawing blood for lab work.
- Work hand‑in‑hand with surgeons and anesthesia providers, serving as the ultimate advocate to ensure every patient is perfectly cleared and ready for surgery.
- Gather pertinent patient information related to the scheduled case.
- Arrange collected data into the appropriate patient record.
- Utilize critical thinking in the assessment of patients.
- Contact all patients scheduled for surgery to assess biophysical, psychosocial, spiritual, cultural, and educational status.
- Develop an individualized perioperative patient plan of care.
- Serve as a liaison between physician offices and the surgical team.
- Administer medications safely and correctly.
- Assess patient or support person knowledge, provide education regarding expected care, pain management, and discharge planning.
- Actively involve the patient or designated support person in decisions affecting their perioperative plan of care.
- Protect the patient’s rights, dignity, and privacy.
- Ensure that documentation is completed in a timely and thorough manner.
- Contribute to the provision of quality nursing care through excellence in customer service and performance‑improvement techniques.
- Perform other position‑related duties as assigned.
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, BSN preferred.
- 2+ years of perioperative services experience highly preferred.
- Ready and willing to commute between Utica and Troy.
- Welcoming, professional demeanor that immediately puts pre‑surgery patients at ease, paired with sharp clinical intuition.
- RN license and certification as required by state.
- BLS certification required.
- ACLS preferred.
- Certified Nurse Post‑Anesthesia (CAPA) preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Patient‑focused, able to remain calm in difficult situations.
- Excellent interpersonal skills – compassionate and personable.
- Basic computer skills and use of Microsoft Office software; prior experience with electronic health record (EMR) software required.
- Compliance with HIPAA regulations for patient confidentiality.
Carrying weight 1–25 lbs frequent, 26–50 lbs occasionally; pushing/pulling 1–25 lbs seldom; lifting 1–25 lbs occasionally; lifting 26–50 lbs seldom; performing the same tasks on the floor to chest or waist as described.
