Health Professions Resource Specialist

Location:

Utica, NY

Job Type: Full-Time, 10-Month

The College is looking for exceptional colleagues to join the MVCC community. We are currently seeking a Health Professions Resource Specialist in our School of Health Sciences. The Health Professions Resource Specialist supervises the Health Professions Resource Center and reinforces learned content and skills with individual students. They are responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating strategies to improve student retention in all the Health Profession Programs.

Key responsibilities for this position include:

* Inventories and orders supplies as needed;

* Maintains equipment, supervises service contracts, maintains sharps policy/contract;

* Coordinates with all Health Professions faculty the weekly laboratory practicums/schedule;

* Schedules the Skill Proficiency Examination in coordination with lab faculty;

* Supervises and assists students practicing nursing skills, logging required lab hours;

* Assists students requiring medication calculation remediation;

* Participates on nursing and department meetings/committees;

* Collaborates with Health Professions faculty to identify at-risk students, to create improvement plans, monitor progress, and document outcomes;

* Develops learning strategies with students to reinforce content and skills;

* Coordinates open laboratory hours to meet student needs;

* Represents the College/Department at local health fair showcases, informational sessions and local marketing functions as required;

* Tracks student required community events and post possible opportunities for community events;

* Remains current with skills in collaboration with faculty;

* Arranges for senior nursing student pictures/composite and member of the nursing pinning committee;

* Assists with proctoring of exams as available;

* Maintains records of Proctored ATI assessments among all nursing classes and place reports in binder monthly;

* Meets with Coordinators/Associate Dean to discuss mutual concerns/problems as they pertain to the functioning of the Health Professions Resource Center;

* Performs other duties related to this job description and as assigned by the Dean for the School of Health Sciences.

Work Schedule:

Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 4:30pm

Hours per week: 35

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

* Bachelor of Science in Nursing

* Current New York State RN license

* Organized with good communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

* Current with skills/recent clinical experience
