Staff Accountant

Description

Robert Half is looking for a skilled Accountant to join a reputable non-profit in Utica, New York. In this role, you will contribute to the smooth operation of accounting processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with financial principles. This position requires a detail-oriented individual with strong analytical skills and a commitment to maintaining financial integrity.

Responsibilities:

- Process vendor invoices, employee reimbursements, and corporate credit card expenses while ensuring accuracy and resolving discrepancies.

- Maintain vendor records, including W-9s and 1099 filings, and assist with cash flow analysis.

- Verify, record, and reconcile bank statement transactions to ensure proper financial documentation.

- Manage investment account activities, compile statements, and coordinate with investment consultants.

- Update fixed asset records, record monthly depreciation entries, and maintain depreciation schedules.

- Prepare journal entries to accurately reflect financial transactions in line with accounting standards.

- Reconcile general ledger accounts on a timely basis, adhering to the reconciliation schedule.

- Assist in the preparation of monthly fund statements and departmental budget-to-actual reports.

- Support year-end closing processes, including audit preparation, 990 documentation, and 1099 filings.

- Collaborate on ad-hoc accounting projects and contribute to the implementation of financial controls.

Requirements - A minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting or finance roles.

- Proficiency in processing accounts payable and reconciling general ledger accounts.

- Strong knowledge of journal entries and corporate tax returns.

- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel for financial analysis and reporting.

- Experience with account reconciliation and bank statement verification.

- Familiarity with financial controls and compliance procedures.

- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines with accuracy.

- Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
