Gallery Guard

Position: Gallery Guard - Full Time Position
Munson is now accepting applications for a full time Gallery Guard position. The position pays $17.00 hourly or $19.00 hourly with 5 years or more of verifiable security-related experience in law enforcement, military, or a security field.

Gallery Guards ensure the safety and security of Institute visitors, staff, faculty, students, art collection and museum buildings by protecting against theft, vandalism, and fire. Munson Gallery Guards respond to visitor/employee needs and inquiries in a professional and courteous manner and respond quickly with professional judgement in emergencies. The Museum of Art is open to the public Tuesdays through Saturdays, Sunday afternoons, with additional open hours for evening or special events, or exhibition hours.

NYS Guard license is required. Previous experience and familiarity with security equipment preferred. Excellent interpersonal skills required with ability to operate two-way radio and effectively communicate with Museum of Art visitors and employees. AAS degree in criminal justice, previous security or law enforcement experience preferred.

Mental and Visual Demands:

Close mental and visual attention required to perform work dealing primarily with the safety of visitors, staff, faculty, students and visitors. Using general office and computer equipment and/or extensive reading.

Environmental Conditions:

Work is performed in an internal environment. Occasional seasonal events may require work in an outdoor setting.

Computer, Machine and Equipment Skills:

Computer skills that include the ability to send/receive e-mail messages and prepare and submit required reports. Working knowledge/use of computer, telephone system, security equipment required.

Physical Abilities and Demands:

Requires frequent standing, sitting, walking and must possess the ability to exert up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally, and up to 5 lbs. of force frequently. Weights over 50 lbs. should only be moved with assistance.

Schedule:

• Day time shifts. 36.5 hours per week (Bi-weekly pay)
• Usually two Sundays per month (required).

License/Certification:

• NY State Guard License (Required)

May be asked to serve on Munson interdivisional committees

The final candidate will be required to complete a post-offer, pre-employment background check.
