Computes and prepares Borough Payroll. Maintain payroll files and related documents and records.

Run on demand checks.
Runs, prints and prepares necessary reports for check runs.
Review payroll transactions in accordance with policies and procedures: corrects errors as required.
Prepares check request and journal entries as required.
Collects and compiles data for reports; reconciles reports. Prepares and maintains daily, bi-weekly payroll reports in compliance with Federal, State, local government agencies and other pertinent external entities.
Process payroll and related transactions for the Borough in compliance with all applicable Federal, State and Borough rules, regulations, policies, ordinance and laws.
Reviews and processes personnel actions forms and other source document forms.
Respond to complex inquiries by North Slope Borough departments and external agencies for payroll related data.
Responsible for handling of involuntary withholding requests made by external agencies.
Ensure completeness of all incoming and outgoing forms pertaining to employees.
Enters payroll and related data into computer systems, and maintains information system database; enters data, processes transactions, assesses and validates data, and compiles documentation.
Reviews and enters timesheets; brings timesheet errors to the attention of department timekeepers, verifies that corrections have been made to timesheets prior to entry.
Maintains a log of various payroll related documents.
Maintains records and files associated with payroll systems and related transactions.
Updates and corrects databases.
Prints and distributes bi-weekly time sheets for all Borough employees.
May perform the duties of the Payroll Specialist III.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge of Borough policies and procedures.
Knowledge of principles of record keeping and records management.
Knowledge of principles and practices of payroll accounting.
Skill in data entry.
Ability to create and understand mathematical computations.
Skill in reviewing/analyzing and correcting mathematical computations.
Ability to review and correct written forms and materials.
Strong interpersonal skills, with an emphasis on customer service.
High school graduate or G.E.D/or, a combination of 12 years of education and related work experience.
Two years of clerical work experience;
Two years of experience of working with computers;
Two years experience with payroll or accounting functions.
