Brief Summary

Perform a variety of administrative duties for the department staff and assist with matters related to credentialing of the hospital staff.

Essential Job Functions
  • Assist with the medical staff credentialing process by monitoring and ensuring completion of documentation and related verifications.
  • Accurately prepare a variety of documents including but not limited to letters, reports, manuals, policies, and meeting minutes.
  • Assist providers with the electronic PECOS and Xerox systems to ensure all providers are registered with Medicare and Medicaid at hire or as soon as reasonable thereafter and is renewed in a timely manner.
  • Assist SSMH providers with the credentialing process and maintain credentialing files.
  • Assist with data entry and the ongoing maintenance of the Cactus credentialing software program.
  • Schedule and attend meetings; maintain current reports/minutes of organizational meetings.
  • Facilitate the coordination of travel and housing assignments for TDY physicians.
  • Foster a smoothly functioning, efficient organization through timely and effective resolution of disruptions.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma or general education (GED) required, bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Two years of medical credentialing and office experience, preferred.
  • Experience with MD-Staff.
  • Experience with minute taking for meetings.
  • Proficient in the following computer applications:
    Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and E-mail. Ability to type, with no errors, 50 wpm
Certification/Licensure
  • Should obtain CPCS certification within 4 years of hire.
  • An active Driver’s License
Computer Skills
  • Working knowledge of MD-Staff required.
