LOCATION:

Utqiaġvik, Alaska or Remote

WORK SCHEDULE:

Per Semester/Course Contract

COMPENSATION: $1,150 to $1,725 per credit, determined by education credentials

SUMMARY

OF POSITION:

Teaches MATH 116: 'Mathematics in Healthcare' at Ilisagvik College in Summer 2026 beginning 5/11/26 and concludes 7/3/26. MATH 116 is a three-credit course that meets in the evenings (AKST). Please visit (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). for a full course description.

Instructor may be located on-site in Utqiaġvik, AK or deliver via synchronous means (Zoom, etc.) and on Iḷisaġvik’s LMS, Moodle.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Prepares and maintains updated instructional materials, course outlines, and curriculum.
  • Utilizes student LMS (Moodle – MyCampus).
  • Develops and submits current course syllabus, using the college template.
  • Prepares administrative documents, such as student withdrawals and attendance.
  • Evaluates student performance and timely submits midterm and final grades to the registrar.
  • Maintains office hours (in-person, telephonically, or online).
  • Participates in professional development as necessary to be proficient in the college’s current technologies and learning platform.
  • Complies with College policies, procedures and administrative directives, as well as state, federal, and local laws, regulations, and ordinances.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
  • Demonstrated professional and/or teaching experience in the subject area.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact effectively in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Proficient in Healthcare, Human Services, Behavioral Science, Health Information Management, or similar fields.
  • Demonstrated teaching experience in a post-secondary environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in curriculum development.
  • Demonstrated experience with distance delivery.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment background check.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in one or more of the following areas: post-secondary educational systems, North Slope Borough [NSB] institutions and organizations; Iñupiat culture, language, values, and traditions.
  • Ability to interpret and represent North Slope community values, customs, and beliefs for the College.
  • Ability to interpret and represent College actions and western institutions to the North Slope community.
  • Ability to support Iḷisaġvik College’s mission.
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATES/TRAINING [Required]:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree or equivalent in Human Services or other relevant discipline.
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATES/TRAINING [Preferred]:
  • Doctorate degree or equivalent in the area of instruction.
