Job Title: Principal Quality Engineer - Process & Governance
Location: Barrow-in-Furness. We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements - please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role.
Salary: £42,215+ depending on skills & experience
What you’ll be doing:
Supporting the de-risking of integrated control systems prior to their release to the boat
Maintaining and reporting Quality Metrics
Developing and deploying process and documentation
Supporting the planning and delivery of the Audit & Assurance schedule and management of resultant actions
Providing advice, support and coaching to teams within the Test & Facilities function
Acting as a Process Owner for key Test & Facilities Capability (T&FC) organisation
Deputizing for Process & Governance Quality lead when required
Representing and promoting T&FC Quality at working groups
Supervising Early Careers colleagues
Your skills and experience:
Working knowledge of ISO
9001 standard
Broad understanding of Quality tools & techniques including Audit & Assurance, Action Management, Performance management and Continuous improvement
HNC qualified in a science or engineering-based discipline, or equivalent experience in a Quality role
LRQA trained internal auditor or equivalent
Leadership experience would be beneficial

The Test & Facilities Process and Governance team:
You’ll be joining an established and growing team, with plans to expand as we develop new facilities and capabilities. This is a unique role within the shipbuilding environment, focused on supporting a test facility that ensures complex integrated systems — such as vehicle control and communications — function correctly together before reaching the boat. In supporting this critical de-risking stage, the team offers excellent exposure across the wider business.
