Job Overview
Oversee and perform a wide variety of maintenance work at facilities and grounds which includes routine maintenance, plumbing, mechanical, carpentry and electrical. Also assists with preventative maintenance such as flooring and/or ceiling work, door and/or window replacement/repair, painting, roofing, fire protection, plumbing, mechanical, carpentry and electrical.

- Assist with coordinating and maintaining inventory of parts and supplies for facility repairs;
Order materials as needed; maintain accurate records and inventory control along with receiving reports; - Assists licensed plumbers and electricians with HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical and Security Systems.
- Performs quality inspections on work complete by other Facility Maintenance Specialist Staff;
- Coordinates, maintains and repair physical structures as needed.
- Use power tools and other departmental equipment to perform basic carpentry, electrical, mechanical, air conditioning, plumbing and/or other repairs and maintenance.
- Inspect all North Slope Borough facilities, equipment and grounds for necessary repairs, improvements, or preventative maintenance.
- Comply with all safety standards.
- Protect self, co-workers and consumers by following policies and procedures to prevent the spread of blood borne and/or airborne diseases.
- Within NSB Health Facilities and NSB Itinerate Quarters, respect clients and/or tenants by recognizing their rights and maintaining confidentiality, including HIPPA requirements.
- Will be required to work a non-traditional work schedule to include evening, holidays, and weekends and may be subject to 24 hour on‑call status.
- Will be required to travel.
- Perform janitorial duties on the grounds and in the facility.
- Perform duties as assigned by the work order(s) received.
- Perform other duties as assigned. Knowledge of North Slope Borough organization, operations, policies and procedures.
- Skill in using personnel computers and variety of software applications.
- Ability to establish and maintain effect working relations with co-workers and others.
- High school Graduate or G.E.D/or, a combination of 12 years of education and work‑related experience;
- Three years of combined work experience in carpentry, mechanical, electrical, and/or plumbing;
- Valid Alaska Driver’s License that meets North Slope Borough insurance criteria;
- Must be 21 years or age;
- Ability to pass a criminal background check conducted by the State of Alaska Background Check Unit;
- Documentation that the individual is free from active pulmonary tuberculosis;
- Ability to obtain CPR, AED, and Basic First Aid Certifications within 6 months of hire lity to obtain OSHA 10 Hour Certification within 6 months of hire.
