Requirements

Education and/or Experience- Graduate from high school or general education degree.
- Two years of technical training in electrical systems or university program certificate.
- Four to five years related experience and/or training.
- Read and interpret procedures, policies and regulations, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Write routine reports and correspondence.
- Effectively present information and respond to questions from supervisor, staff, and public.
- Add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Compute rate, ratio and percent and draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of non-standard situations.
- Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Valid Class D Alaska driver’s license.
- State of Alaska Electrical Certificate of Fitness.

- Lift 70 pounds.

- Speak the Iōnupiaq language.
- Maintain and repair the electrical systems in all District facilities.
- Installs and repair wiring, electrical fixtures, apparatus and control equipment.
- Check and maintain fire alarms in all District facilities.
- Observe safety standards and regulations.
- Estimate material, repair, labor, and costs for projects related to field.
- All work will be done in compliance with the National Electrical Code.
- Adhere to all District policies and regulations.
- Perform such other tasks and assume other responsibilities as the supervisor may assign.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 70 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in high, precarious places and is regularly exposed to risk of electrical shock. The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and in outside weather conditions and is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and extreme cold. The employee is occasionally exposed to extreme heat, risk of radiation, and vibration.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
