Graduate from high school or have a general education degree.

Four to five years of related experience and/or training.

• Read and interpret procedures, policies, and regulations, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Write routine reports and correspondence.
• Effectively present information and respond to questions from supervisors, staff, and the public.

• Add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Compute rate, ratio, and percent and draw and interpret bar graphs.

• Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of non-standard situations.
• Interpret various instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

• Valid Alaska driver's license.

• Speak the Iñupiaq language.

• Assume primary responsibility for the safe condition of flooring, door frames, doors, window frames, staircases, stair treads, wall paneling, ceiling paneling, hardware, and similar structural elements in District-owned facilities.
• Determine which repair jobs should be performed by staff and contractors and advise the supervisor accordingly.
• Recommend supplies and equipment for purchase.
• Estimate costs of repair projects in terms of labor, material, and overhead.
• Examine District facilities regularly for purposes of preventative maintenance.
• Adhere to all District policies and regulations.
• Perform such other tasks and assume other responsibilities as the supervisor may assign.
