Job Summary
Receiving all incoming freight, coordinating outgoing shipments by calling satellite units and completing orders via phone. Purchasing, receiving, inventory, storing, and associated record‑keeping of food service products and supplies. Performing general cleaning and floor maintenance. Performing a variety of food preparation, stocking duties in a school kitchen, storeroom, or serving area.

- Education:
High school diploma or GED equivalent. - Experience:
One (1) year experience in a warehouse or freight environment. - Advanced experience:
Two (2) years demonstrating knowledge of purchasing, material handling, inventory, stocking, shipping and receiving of perishable items, or cleaning processes and equipment. - Basic computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.
- Valid Alaskan driver’s license with a clean driving record acceptable to the district’s insurance carrier.
- Maintains storerooms, shelves, loading docks, and walk‑in coolers by properly arranging and rotating products.
- Assigns job duties for daily work to kitchen employees, when designated by Food Service Coordinator.
- Weekly freezer/dry store inventories and completes monthly inventory checklist for Utqiagvik and village sites.
- Performs inventory data entry.
- Logistic planning for outbound freight.
- Pulls village orders and stocks weekly.
- Assists Food Service Coordinator with ordering incoming product.
- Loads and unloads materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, vehicles, or shelves.
- Provides a variety of products to other personnel as needed, keeping accurate inventories/records of materials on hand.
- Tracks weekly inventory from various villages, inputs data and adheres to timelines.
- Works with other personnel to ensure all products and supplies are available and ready as needed.
- Reads work orders or follows oral instructions to ascertain materials to be moved.
- Orders materials, products and supplies as they drop below established levels or as called for by others.
- Maintains accurate records of invoices on purchases and initiates/monitors claims to shippers or vendors.
- Inspects deliveries for conformity to standards, quantity/quality ordered.
- Counts and records number of units of materials moved or handled.
- Delivers, unloads, loads, stocks, cleans, rotates, or picks up materials or product from various locations.
- May handle special food service‑related projects, prepare and clean products to be stored.
- May assist in maintaining cleanliness of other associated areas.
- Cleans work area, machines, and equipment and keeps assigned areas neat, safe, and orderly.
- Stacks, assembles, or bands materials together.
- Uses various hand trucks to facilitate movement of materials or products.
- May operate an industrial truck or electric hoist to assist in loading or moving materials and products.
- May assist food service personnel with general day‑to‑day activities (food preparation, restocking, cleaning, etc.).
- Responsible for shipping supplies/food out to the villages.
- Washes objects by hand or with cleaning equipment.
- Maintains products at specified levels in preparation, serving, or storage areas including service machines.
- Stocks storage areas with various products.
- Removes garbage from assigned areas, serving lines, etc.
- Assists with scheduled large cleaning projects.
- Assists cooks and others as needed and coordinates own activities with others.
- Other duties pertinent to department or unit’s success may be assigned.
Regularly required to stand, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, and climb or balance. Frequently stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; walk and sit. Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 60 pounds. Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
EnvironmentalConditions
Work frequently near moving mechanical parts, in high, precarious places, and outside weather conditions; exposed to risk of electrical shock. Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, extreme heat, and vibration. Noise level usually moderate.

Salary: $31.09 – $48.58 per hour (based on experience)
