At the Thuisgekookt Foundation, we believe that a meal is more than just food. Since 2012, we have been connecting neighbors through a warm, home‑cooked meal. Our volunteer home cooks prepare an extra portion for someone in the neighborhood who is (temporarily) unable to cook for themselves. In this way, we not only provide healthy food, but also connection, trust and personal attention.
Today, our network consists of thousands of home cooks and meal recipients throughout the Netherlands. With the support of municipalities, funds and companies, we expect to create over 3,100 new matches in 2026.
We are active throughout the Netherlands and work closely with more than 30 focus municipalities. To increase our local visibility in South Holland, we are looking for Communication Volunteers in the following focus municipalities:
Zoetermeer, Leiden, Delft, Schiedam, Vlaardingen, Dordrecht and Katwijk.
As a Communication Volunteer, you are the local communication face of the Thuisgekookt Foundation in your region. You ensure that stories from our matches (home cook and meal recipient), campaigns and impact become visible to local media, municipalities and partners.
You work closely with the national communications team and are an important link between local and national efforts.
What are your tasks?- You write (and/or film) local human‑interest stories about the match between a home cook and a meal recipient.
- You translate national campaigns (approximately four per year) to regional and local media, tailored to your region and municipalities.
- You act as a local spokesperson and maintain contact with regional press and media outlets.
- You provide input for the Thuisgekookt Foundation’s social media channels.
- You have a warm heart for the mission of the Thuisgekookt Foundation.
- You have experience in communication, such as PR, writing, journalism or content creation (experience with video editing is a plus).
- You are independent, proactive and know how to create connections locally.
- You enjoy working with a national organization while making a local impact.
- You are available on average 4–6 hours per month, with flexible scheduling.
- You speak and write Dutch fluently.
- Meaningful and flexible volunteer work with social impact
- Good guidance and support from the team at the Thuisgekookt Foundation
- Room to make an impact with your communication talents
- A warm network of committed colleagues and volunteers
- An annual opportunity to attend part of the Thuisgekookt Team Day, with special attention for our volunteers
