Solar Farm Technician II
RWE Americas, LLC is looking for a Solar Farm Technician II to perform preventive and corrective maintenance across all scopes of an operating power plant, including civil, mechanical, electrical inspection, and I&C. The role involves monitoring, controlling, and trending operations to maximize productivity and generation while ensuring safety.
Role Responsibilities- Test, maintain, and troubleshoot solar PV electrical and mechanical equipment.
- Ensure tasks performed safely and per site operating procedures.
- Complete lock‑out‑tag‑out, JSA’s, permits, and required documentation.
- Identify improvement opportunities in processes and procedures.
- Collect data and prepare reports to meet reporting requirements.
- Perform balance of plant and switchyard work as required.
- Monitor maintenance contractors and ensure corrective actions.
- Perform electrical testing (insulation, thermal).
- Document all work and generate reports.
- Use Microsoft Office and computer software for maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Identify gaps in safety standards and risks.
- Assist with BOP activities as needed.
- Respond quickly to emergencies or situations requiring immediate troubleshooting.
- Ensure site access, HSE, security, deliveries, and inspections per protocols.
- Interface with 3rd‑party contractors.
- Available for nontraditional operating hours, including emergencies, tracking work orders, and resolving O&M issues.
- Operate mobile equipment (mowers, forklifts, tractors, excavators, motor vehicles).
- Represent the company professionally with contractors, vendors, and community partners.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Associate’s degree in Engineering or related field preferred.
- Current Nevada State PV Installer licence.
- NABCEP Certification or Electrical License preferred.
- Unrestricted driver’s license in good standing.
- Minimum 2 years experience as a maintenance electrician, 4 years as a multi‑craft maintenance technician, or 2 years in power generation, transmission, or distribution.
- Experience in solar operations and maintenance a plus.
- Skilled in power plant operations, electrical and mechanical equipment maintenance, and substation maintenance.
- Competent in power plant safety protocols, electrical safety, and NEC.
- Knowledge of hand and power tools; environmental and safety policies.
- Ability to work within tight deadlines and evolving schedules.
- Willingness to travel to job sites and support other sites.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Routine operation of a computer/tablet and office productivity equipment.
- Strong communication skills, written and verbal.
- Flexibility to work nights, weekends, holidays as required.
- Complete required training satisfactorily and timely.
- First aid/CPR/AED.
- OSHA Certified.
- Shift work.
- Responsive to direction, coachable, trainable.
- Adaptive to new technologies and methods.
- Ownership of responsibilities and proactive improvement.
- Field‑based role involving travel and visits to other offices and field locations.
- Ability to work in extreme weather conditions.
- Ability to walk, climb, and stand extensively during the workday.
- Ability to push/pull/lift tools and equipment weighing 50 lbs. or more.
