At Uvalde Memorial Hospital, accurate health information plays a vital role in delivering quality care and ensuring the integrity of our healthcare operations. We are looking for an experienced Ambulatory Coding Manager who is passionate about leadership, compliance, and supporting the vital work behind the scenes of patient care.

In this role, you will lead and support our coding team, ensuring medical records are coded accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with industry standards and regulations. You will work closely with physicians, billing teams, and hospital leadership to maintain coding quality, improve processes, and strengthen revenue cycle performance.

This is more than a job — it’s an opportunity to guide a talented team, strengthen healthcare documentation practices, and help ensure our hospital continues providing exceptional care to the community we serve.

In This Role, You Will:
  • Lead, mentor, and supervise a team of medical coders.
  • Assign and monitor coding workloads to ensure timely and accurate completion.
  • Ensure coding practices follow ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS, and other regulatory guidelines.
  • Conduct coding audits and implement quality assurance measures to maintain high accuracy standards.
  • Provide training and ongoing education to coding staff on regulatory updates and best practices.
  • Collaborate with physicians and other departments to resolve documentation questions.
  • Partner with billing and revenue cycle teams to address denials and optimize reimbursement.
  • Track performance metrics and provide reports on coding productivity, accuracy, and trends.
  • Assist the HIM Director in maintaining coding policies, procedures, and compliance standards.
What We’re Looking For:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management, Healthcare Administration, or related field preferred.
  • Coding certification preferred (COC or CCS-P) or willingness to obtain within one year of employment.
  • Minimum of two years of medical coding experience with leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of coding guidelines, compliance standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Proficiency with coding software, EHR systems, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and analytical skills with strong attention to detail.
Why You’ll Love Working Here:
  • Be part of a mission-driven team dedicated to serving our community.
  • Lead and develop a team that plays a critical role in healthcare operations.
  • Opportunities for professional development and continued education.
  • Competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package.
  • A supportive workplace culture where your leadership and expertise make an impact every day.
