What is the Work?
  • Store Lead Operations / Training – May serve as backup to Department Manager and typically works opposite shift to Manager; may help prepare department work schedules; carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with policies and applicable laws; assists with inventory control; loads, unloads, and moves product; trains Partners; directs work; addresses complaints; resolves issues; builds / follows up on production plans and their execution;

    assists in all technical areas, as needed; performs Representative / Specialist duties frequently.
  • Customer Service / Sales – Provides / coaches on superior customer service; takes orders from customers by telephone or in person; answers customer questions regarding products; assists with selections; uses suggestive selling techniques and advanced product knowledge to meet customer needs and build department sales; merchandises products effectively.
  • Food Safety – Slices, packages, labels, rotates, and culls products for poor quality; complies with department / Store operating procedures; cleans / sanitizes sales floor, display cases, prep areas, and equipment.
  • Bakery – Ensures / oversees effective production planning; assists in all technical areas (baking, frying, decorating); culls bakery products for poor quality, expiration dates; writes on cakes with icing per personalized customer requests.
  • Other Departments – See additional department-specific responsibilities (Beauty, Deli, Prepared Foods, Produce, Texas Backyard, Floral, Seafood, Showtime, etc.) and related duties listed in the original description.
Department-Specific and General Lifting / Working Conditions
  • Work involves various department-specific responsibilities with physical requirements including lifting, standing, kneeling, reaching, bending, and exposure to conditions such as cold, heat, wet floors, and loud noise. Specific lifting capabilities vary by department (examples: Bakery up to 50 lbs; Dairy up to 60-85 lbs; Produce Lead up to 55-65 lbs; etc.).
  • Partners should never lift beyond their own safe lifting limit and should seek assistance if needed.
Background / Fit
  • Minimum age 18
  • Associate's degree (AA), or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or 6+ months of related experience and/or training; or combination of equivalent education / training
  • Completion of Company Orientation, food safety and sanitation training, and eCommerce Online Ordering training
  • Expert knowledge of department production stations, including quality standards, setup, operation, cleaning, and maintenance of all equipment
  • Ability to read and interpret documents; write routine reports; speak effectively before groups of customers or Partners
  • Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form; handle problems with several concrete variables in standardized situations
  • Ability to function in a fast-paced, retail environment, work with Customers, and perform detailed tasks
