About us

The Trust’s services at Mount Vernon Hospital include routine day surgery, delivered at a modern treatment centre, a minor injuries unit and outpatient clinics.

The safety and well‑being of our patients and of our staff is paramount and we are making urgent improvements to address this – particularly in infection prevention and control. We are making progress and going forward by working in partnership with local GPs, charities, community services, academic partners, our local authority, neighbouring hospitals and the wider North West London Integrated Care System, and ensuring that we listen and work in partnership with our local population.

We are absolutely focused on ensuring that our hospitals provide high quality, safe and compassionate care, while driving forward the building of the new Hillingdon Hospital.

We have over 3,500 members of staff that are proud to care for nearly half a million people, with a vision to be an outstanding provider of healthcare through leading health and academic partnerships, transforming services, to provide the best care where needed.

Job responsibilities

Applicants must have full GMC registration as well as experience of working in the NHS. They should have or be within six months of CCT in Gastroenterology and Medicine.

The post holders will, together with their consultant colleagues and other health care professionals in the Division, provide an effective and comprehensive service for our patients and support continuing service developments. The Gastroenterology and Hepatology Clinical Lead will be the immediate line manager.

The post holders will be able to participate in the on‑call GI bleed / Gastroenterology rota on an approximately 1:8 basis, with full recruitment.

The primary focus of this post is to support the Hepatology service.

The post‑holder will work closely with their colleagues, be responsible for providing a high‑quality Hepatology and Gastroenterology service to the residents of Hillingdon, and for development of services appropriate to these ends. This includes vetting of Hepatology referrals and review of these patients in clinics (face‑to‑face, telephone and paper/virtually).

The post‑holder will participate in the bleeding rota; providing emergency out‑of‑hours Gastroenterology cover to both Harefield Hospital and Hillingdon Hospital. Currently this is non‑resident, with future job planning this may involve a regular on‑site commitment. We are negotiating to withdraw from the Harefield commitment, to focus clinical time at the Hillingdon site.

The post‑holder will, within a Team, be jointly responsible for running an inpatient and outpatient service for Hepatology and general gastroenterology including an advisory service for colleagues.
