Outdoor Track & Field Assistant Coach

Uxbridge Athletics is seeking dedicated and knowledgeable Assistant Coaches for the High School Boys & Girls Track & Field program (grades 8-12) and the Whitin Intermediate School (grades 6-7) Co-Ed Track & Field program.

The Assistant Coach will support the Head Coach in developing a competitive, inclusive, and character-driven program that promotes athletic excellence and sportsmanship.

This positions works under the general supervision of the Principal, Athletic Director and Head Coach.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist in planning, organizing, and conducting daily practices

Provide event-specific coaching in sprints, distance, hurdles, relays, jumps, and/or throws

Supervise student-athletes during practices, competitions, and team activities

Assist with meet preparation, entries, and on-site event management

Foster teamwork, leadership, and sportsmanship among athletes

Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, coaching staff, and administration

Ensure compliance with school, district, and state athletic association policies

Qualifications:

Previous coaching and/or competitive experience in track and field preferred

Knowledge of training principles and event-specific techniques

Ability to motivate and develop high school student-athletes

Effective communication and organizational skills

CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)

Successful completion of background check as required by district (Fingerprinting, CORI/SORI)

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience coaching multiple event areas

Familiarity with track & field scoring

Coaching certification through state or national organizations
